| I was born on moriah hill. I had a wonderful childhood, along with the rest of my siblings. It was a wonderful place to grow up. My family are still there,my eldest brother still living on moriah hill. I come home as much as I can,I miss it more as I get older. The photographs especially John uphams are a delight, each one I look at gives me a pang of homesickness. Could I purchase some copies,PLEASE??? Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me?? Regards, Jayne

| The mountain was known as Twymbarlwm when I was young, and its nickname was the Tump.
I also remeber the origins of the Risca Male voice, a small group form Bethany and Moriah who used to meet at Moriah to practice.

| Great web site, good trip down memory lane. excellent photos.

| I have lived in Risca/Pontymister all my life and hold great affection for it and the surrounding countryside. Which I have seen slowly destroyed, both Machen and the Tump have now become dumping grounds for rubbish.
Also I would like everyone to remember that the park was given to the people of Risca/Pontymister to enjoy!!!!!!!!!!But the old baths field was given to the CHILDREN of the area to ENJOY..........so the beautiful gates have disappeared to some council yard, they now have a bloody car park, how many 8yr olds are going to drive there to play?????????? and no swimming pool or swings to play on. Worst of all not many people know or care about these old traditions.......shame on all of us.
