Coombes is a hamlet and civil parish in the Adur District of West Sussex, England. It is located three miles (5km) north of Shoreham by Sea on the River Adur. The 11th century village church has frescoes, some of the most important in England, and painted about 1100 A.D. The church has a single bell, one of the oldest in Sussex, dated at circa.1150 A.D. and probably cast in Normandy which weighs about 35 Kilos (80 pounds). The church is roofed with Horsham stone slabs.
This small village has a parish meeting, rather than a parish council. It covers an area of 525.81ha (1299 acres) and has a population (2001 census) of 51 persons living in 22 households of whom 23 were economically active.
There is a farm, Church Farm, and Applesham Farm is fairly close.
