Achiltibuie (Scottish Gaelic: Aichillidh Bhuidhe) is a long linear village in Ross and Cromarty, Highland, on the Coigach coast of northwestern Scotland, overlooking Loch Broom and the Summer Isles which lie to the west. Located 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Ullapool, Achiltibuie is home to the Hydroponicum, a garden where plants are grown using a hydroponic system, in water and without soil. It is the last stop on the road to Achduart.
The first post office in the village opened on 28 July 1884.[1]
Work for us - We are looking for enterprising, community-minded people with time and a digital camera to help populate our local websites.
We are currently working on the Achiltibuie profile and would be pleased to receive contributions from anyone who knows it well.
