(
COBHAM, KENT) Moved to Cobham 4 years ago after 15 years living in London. There is a strong sense of community and we were made to feel welcome from day one. Neighbours and other people in our street came along with house warming presents despite not know us. People are helpful and look after each other. Someone is always ready to water the garden if we are away or look after the cat. We are involved with the annual village fete, the local gardeners society and are regulars at the three pubs in the village. (
25/10/2010)
(
ABERKENFIG, MID GLAMORGAN) it is a small village, where people know one and other without being intrusive. the local amenities are good for the size of the village, and most things you need can be bought in the local shops. (

(
PEN-Y-FAI, MID GLAMORGAN) IT IS ONLY A SMALL VILLAGE LOCATED ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF BRIDGEND. ALTHOUGH THERE ISN&'T VERY MANY AMENITIES HERE, IT DOES HAVE A STRONG COMMUNITY ATMOSPHERE FOCUSED AROUND THE CHURCH, PRIMARY SCHOOL AND PUB. IT SEEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ONE ANOTHER IN PEN-Y-FAI, WHICH IS A RARE AND QUITE FULFILLING THING TO SEE THESE DAYS. I THINK THAT HAVING THE PUB &'THE PHEASANT&' LOCATED ALMOST CENTRALLY TO THE VILLAGE CONTRIBUTES GREATLY TO &'NEIGHBOURHOOD&' FEEL AND AS WELL AS BEING A LOCAL FOR MANY RESIDENTS OF PEN-Y-FAI IT LENDS ITSELF IDEALLY FOR EVENTS AS THERE IS A LARGE SPORTS FIELD DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF IT. IT HAS ALSO RECENTLY BECOME A GREAT RENDEZVOUS AFTER ITS £1,000,000 REFURBISHMENT. I THINK THERE IS A STRONG HEART WITHIN THIS VILLAGE. (

(
WALTON, CUMBRIA) I love the sense of peace and tranquility and the beauty of the place. The views towards the Lake District and Blencathra and those of the Irthing Valley are astounding.
Walton is within easy commuting distance of Carlisle, work and its obvious amenities.
There are many people in Walton who have what would now be called old fashioned values but such a caring and sharing approach to life is wonderful. There is a thriving community which organises a number of well supported annual events. We have a beautiful parish church and very lucky to have the nicest of rectors in Peter Lee. All this coupled with Christleton being a pretty village with many of the attributes one would like to find in an English village. The parish church, the village green, the pumphouse, shop, pub, period houses, village pond known to locals as the pit, a canal with quaint bridges and two excellent schools. (
