| IN THE 1940S USED TO SKINNY DIP IN THE LAKE. WE WERE PART OF A TROOP OF SCOUTS FROM GLENTWORTH
| |
| Hi, Used to live in Grange Cottages Glentworth - 1938 - 1947. Recall being a member of a Scout Troop based in Glentworth at the Vicarage (The Rev. Richardson). This troop walked along a bridle path to Fillingham Lake. We had some time skinny dipping until we were disturbed by a couple of the local girls. I remember on Girl but shall not mention her name.brbr

Is The Castle occupied now adays. When we left Glentwoprth in 1947 it was occupied by The Rose Family who I believe were involved in Engineering based in Gainsborough.brbr

I set and picked potatoes for George Carter who farmed at two farms on The Cliff at Fillingham. One was close to The Castle which at the time was almost derelict. In one turret room was a floor to ceiling mirror which had not been damaged. In the dungeons/cellars was one with a hole in the wall. There was a rumour that there was a tunnel from the Castle to the lake and this hole in the wall was the entrance. We were too scared to try it.brbr

In a field on Deers Leap were the remains of an Ice House which had been used by the Castle - supposedly - to store meat etc over the summer.
