Fox freed by RSPCA after getting tangled in football netting in Buckinghamshire
The RSPCA is urging people to safely put away netting to protect wildlife, after a fox had to be rescued when she got tangled up in one.
The young female fox was seen by a member of the public trapped in the football netting at a school in Rose Avenue, in High Wycombe, on Monday (23 May).

Birmingham man banned from keeping animals after tethered dog was injured by hook
A Birmingham man has been disqualified from keeping animals for ten years after a hook used to tether his dog was in his skin for three days, causing an infection.
Mohammed Azad (DOB 28/02/1982), of Orpwood Road, Stetchford, was sentenced yesterday (Tuesday 24 May). At a hearing last month, he pleaded guilty to failing to ensure the needs of the then-eight-month-old Presa Canaria dog named Rex by not seeking veterinary treatment for the infection, caused by the holes.

Fox cub rescued after getting head stuck in jam jar in Northamptonshire
A fox cub was rescued by the RSPCA after he got his head stuck in a plastic jam jar in Northamptonshire.
The young cub was seen by a member of the public in St Peter’s Avenue, in Rushden, who immediately called the RSPCA.

Wirral man dumped elderly and poorly dog in graveyard
A man who dumped an elderly and poorly dog in a cemetery has been banned from keeping animals for five years.
Gordon Roach (DOB 17/04/1975), of Dundonald Street, Birkenhead, was sentenced at Wirral Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 20 May) after he pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the dog, named Elmo by veterinary staff.
As well as the disqualification order, Roach was given a four-week prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Appeal for information after bodies of dog and cat are found in Liverpool canal
The RSPCA is investigating after the body of a dog with a weight around his neck and the body of a cat were pulled out of a canal in Liverpool.

Appeal for information after body of headless cat is found in Cannock
The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a second headless and tailless cat was found in a Cannock garden.
The black and white female cat was found by a member of the public on Saturday, 7 May in Lincoln Drive, near to the place where a cat with similar injuries was found at the beginning of April.

Appeal for information after cat is shot with air rifle in Leicestershire
The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat suffered a broken leg when he was shot with an air rifle in Hinckley.
The male cat was found by his owner with the injuries in Strathmore Road, on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 April.
An X-ray showed that a pellet from an air rifle had fractured his leg.

Appeal for information after cat dies from antifreeze poisoning in Corby
The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat died from poisoning in Corby.
Mellow, a nine-year-old male tabby, died on Tuesday, 26 April after it was confirmed by a vet that he ingested antifreeze near his home in Sturminster Way.
His owner, Victoria Slater, took Mellow to the vets after he vomited and started stumbling around. Tests at the vets later confirmed that he had ingested antifreeze.

Three-year ban for Birmingham man who let tumour-riddled dog suffer
A man who left his dog to suffer with large tumours has been disqualified from keeping dogs for three years.
Martin Travers (DOB 30/11/1966), of Ledbury Close, in Ladywood, Birmingham, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court to three offences of causing unnecessary suffering to Chico, a 15-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier.
The court heard that Chico had large tumours on his testicles which dragged on the floor as he walked. He also had tumours on his shoulder and chest.
